We ordered our chickens (first time chicken owners) last year from Hoover's Hatchery. Their minimum is 25. We decided to go with 10 White Leghorns, 10 Easter Egger/Americana and 5 RIR - got one RIR extra. Their customer service is very nice and helpful. All chicks survived and looked very healthy. The males are barred. This breed will lay dark brown eggs and will lay a lot of them! You will truly enjoy this breed in your backyard flock and its dark eggs in your egg carton!
