2012 1.4T valve cover/pcv recall. back in may I had the emission reflash per the recall, and day before yesterday my valve cover/pcv acted up and they replaced this under powertrain warranty. The two are unrelated as many of us have had the PCV valve/cover fail without the emissions recall. The original PCV cover has a weak spring that fails.
On the Gen 2 cruze, the engine is a LE2 engine. There is one open pcv on the front and rear of the engine cover and one pcv valve that is right behind the oil fill cap on passenger side of engine. Niether of our cruze's ports at the head got really clogged. I did a lot of cleaning though on the surfaces and the reused connectors especially the turbo end. The updated manifold was by Dorman, they added a plastic retainer to keep the orange check valve from falling out. It still did not make any difference with the valve clogging up.

The vent is there as a failsafe for when the disc ruptures and the car is unable to vent PCV system pressure through the valve cover/turbo intake hose.
