If it's stuck open - hard to maintain pressure. The quick and easy check is to pull the vacuum line off the valve - if there's any fuel that oozes out - it's bad.

Today I solved a big problem with my 1997 4.2l F150. After seemongly thousands of web pages visited, many of them here, I found the cause of my No Start condition.

FF- I think what they're refering to is the fuel cut-off switch. That doesn't control fuel pressure except to either stop the pressure or start it. It simply cut's the fuel pump off in the case of an accident. Also, cranks and turns over are the same thing.
