Cupidus can definitely be played without a vamp set, in fact I have a cupidus that I use for spider 15 who is geared more like a speed farmer in pure damage gear. The reason I mentioned putting him in vamp gear is usually it’s much easier to do gear wise than getting all the crit and crit damage gear required to speed farm.
