The Biological Ascension path in Stellaris lets you modify species to your heart's content. Of the three Ascension paths in Stellaris, Biological Ascension is the least flashy but the most versatile. Alpha strike is a huge deal in Stellaris, especially since there's no penalties for long-range fire. Cloning vats aren't actually that powerful; a synth-ascended empire's pop growth will easily exceed a (non-hive) bio-empire's pop growth. Cloning vats also have awfully high upkeep, requiring 1-2 pops each (even after mid-game bonuses) just to ...

Apply the new template to the old template species and once the research project is complete and the template has zero pops you can delete it. #5. Maina Oct 3, 2017 @ 12:55am. You're kind of an ass. I was bordered with a driven assimilator and gave them one of my newly colonized planets with the brain slugs on them. I did this to put the cybernetic trait on them. They successfully assimilated them and these pops had both brain slugs and cybernetics. I then took the planet back in order to get the pops back in my empire.

Non-Gestalt Necrophage is the best by far. Your Necrophages are specialists, they get bonus to specialist and ruler output, you give them specialist traits. Starting a new game, planning to go Cybernetic (haven't played in something like a year), Lost Colony origin. It's good that they finally allowed players to stop at cybernetic instead of transitioning it into synthetic, but it's a bit of a shame that those paths are also mutually exclusive now, and also that it's now impossible to get psionic cybernetic pops and other fun combinations. The game has a variety of ways to create such super pops.
